Puzzling Pink Ooze on Secluded Tasmanian Shoreline Spurs Concerns of Likely Algae Outbreak

Officials in the island state are striving to determine a magenta ooze that has materialized on a isolated coast, with a number of researchers anxious it could be an phytoplankton proliferation.

Widespread Appearance On Shore

Lilly Henley, who collected samples of the rosy slime in the state, stated it looked like the suspected bloom had "grown significantly" and indicated the fish farming business was the primary suspect, pointing to like situations elsewhere.

"Therefore the state needs to issue a firm alert here, the officials and the EPA need to react to this. We need to examine the examples we've gathered and we need to put word out the community here," she said.
